Much like Sky, parenting his little brother had a whole host of unique challenges that Mal wasn’t ready to face as a teen/young adult. May externally sweat a little and…need to go get some air. Mal (Swapfell Sans): Starts internally panicking. Honestly, it probably hasn’t sunken in all the way yet that he’s gonna be a dad soon, but he’ll get there! Probably not until the last trimester, but it won’t change a thing, he honors his commitments and a new little one in the family for him to take care of and look out for is very welcome!
Pyre (Underfell Papyrus): Will greet the news almost hilariously professionally, might congratulate his partner on the pregnancy as if he had nothing to do with it with a phrase like, “AH, EXCELLENT,” or, “GOOD WORK.” It’s not that he’s not excited about it, he just has no idea what he’s supposed to say but still wants his s/o to know that he’s on board. He may confess, if pressed, that he’s nervous about what the kid(s)’ll be like, if they’ll like him or if he’ll be good enough for ‘em… Being a good parent is important to him and he just really, really wants to do this thing right… Hopefully, his s/o has some words of reassurance for him because he really is a great caretaker and that’s doubtless going to extend to his kids, too! Jasper (Underfell Sans): He’s happy! Will probably pull his s/o into a hug or kiss or nuzzle, or some combination of the three and won’t want to let go for awhile. It’s kind of intimidating, but he’s made the decision to do this with his s/o and he won’t back out now…but he might have to go eat his body-weight in snacks to chill out first, and it’s a good excuse to get out of his partner’s line of sight so they don’t see him freaking out a little. Paps (Underswap Papyrus): As much as he’s looking forward to this kid, he can’t quite stop his first thought after the confirmation of the pregnancy from being, “oh shit.” He…does not quite feel like an adult capable of taking care of himself and now there’s actually a whole other living person on the way that he’s like…50% responsible for.

He went in totally blind raising his little brother and it was hard, with a lot of unexpected stuff he didn’t know how to deal with, and he wants to try to learn from that and do better this time! He’s already reading all the parenting literature he can get his hands on and is trying to be as prepared as possible. And it is, they’ve talked it out and if they’re at this stage, he’s agreed, it’s something he wants! His impending fatherhood is just something he takes incredibly seriously. Sky (Underswap Sans): Accepts the news with enough solemnity that his s/o probably has to make sure having this kid is still something he wants to do. Papyrus (Undertale): Super excited! A little disappointed that his partner is carrying first, he kinda wanted to do that for the first kid, but! He’s not going to look a gift-baby in the… Well, honestly, he has no idea where that metaphor was going, he’s just really happy that he’s going to be a dad! He’ll probably start building a crib and babyproofing the house way too early, but he’s got the right attitude!
…But little do they know what’s going on in his skull and it’s literally just Dad Jokes, every single ridiculous, terrible Dad Joke he’s ever heard and now he’s gonna get to use them, this is great…! Sans, please, you are having a child, that is not the most important part about this… Sans (Undertale): Actually pretty excited that this is happening, it’s maybe the most enthusiastic his s/o has seen him in… jeez, a long time. Presuming the skeletons have all had The Talk with their partner about kids and decided that having them is a ‘yes’… I am still a little sick, the cough part won’t friggin’ go away, but that’s not gonna stop me from living my life!
